"Grog's One Shot" is honestly one of the funniest episodes of Critical Role ever.īetween the cast barely keeping their laughter back long enough to play and Willingham as Grog's exuberant narration, it was definitely one where everyone was clearly having a great time, and sometimes the atmosphere and the camaraderie around the table counts more than anything, which Willingham provided in spades. Willingham, however, takes it up a notch by DM-ing as his Vox Machina character, Grog Strongjaw, and leading his friends Vax (Liam O'Brien), Vex (Laura Bailey), Scanlan (Sam Riegel), and Percy (Taliesin Jaffe) through a one shot of a game called Bunions & Flagons he overheard someone play in a tavern. Travis Willingham has only ever DM'd a single-time Critical Role, and it's something of a tradition for the regular cast of Player Characters to take over DM-ing duties once.
